There are few sites that have actually made me drop my jaw. The beauty of a pug, a full bowl of hot popcorn, my Granny's garden in June- and now I can add the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore to that list. The cathedral was such a tremendous sight to see, it was huge and immaculate. Every inch had intricate details, shapes, faces, and flowers all pressed into the walls. I did have to have a little cry. It is easy to understand why Christian and Catholic beliefs had such a pull over people in times of old when you see how incredible the Churches are. Since we only had a day there to see the sights I'm glad the cathedral made the cut!

We attempted to sleep in the airport that night but, unfortunately, at midnight we were kicked out because the airport closed!!! We were out on the streets, two ally cats on the prowl. Luckily with our legs of steel we stomped a mile and a half to a surprisingly modern hotel. What did we learn? Always check if the airport closes before planning on sleeping in it!

We stomped back to the airport at 6 am the next day and borded our flight to the land of Jamon Iberico, Barcelona! πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έβ™₯️
