I'm a sucker for a good market and Catania did not disappoint! From fish to jewelry, uno cards to cheese, piles of ladies underwear and fresh vegetables, you name it, it was there. The fish part of the market was very lively- so much so that the fish were actually still flopping and jumping about! There were massive dark swordfish heads, long slippery eels, bright tentacles, and fish of every color. It was incredible to see so much fresh food in one place. As someone who has done most of my shopping in grocery stores, where things are packaged and processed for the most part, it was refreshing to see things done differently. I don't think that being able to source food locally is a thing of the past. I'd love to see more markets in the U.S., the sense of community that it gives to people and the way it allows consumers to access quality ingredients is invaluable.

After our market march we got our first taste of authentic gelato and loved it! It kept us cool in the evening sun as we strolled down the stony streets. We enjoyed some shade in a big rolling green park called Campo Sgambamento Villa Bellini, and finished our evening by buying a massive bottle of wine for 3 euros and 50 cents, thank you Sicily!

Tonight is our last night here as we've started planning the next leg of our journey in Taormina!
